Ontario Hydro (ONTARI-1) is a former crown corporation in Ontario, Canada that was responsible for the generation and distribution of electricity in the province. Established in 1906, Ontario Hydro played a key role in the development of the province's power infrastructure, including the construction of large hydroelectric projects like the Niagara Falls hydroelectric facility. In 1999, Ontario Hydro was restructured into several different entities, including Ontario Power Generation and Hydro One, as part of the province's efforts to deregulate the electricity market. Today, Ontario Hydro (ONTARI-1) is no longer in operation.
